The survival processing effect refers to a phenomenon in which memory is enhanced when people are prompted to think about their own survival in an evolutionary context. In four experiments, the group tested whether this effect generalizes to kin versus unrelated individuals. Although having replicated the survival processing effect in three of the four experiments, they found no evidence for a role of inclusive fitness in the survival processing effect.
